Fabricator's
general design drawings, page 1
Below are the general layout drawings. In addition to conventional drawings on paper, I
also had a set done, full scale, in color, on mylar so one could see the design build up
on successive layers as the pages are laid one upon the other. There are not, nor will
there ever actually be, a full set of specific construction drawings. The fabricator will
be determining tooth and pinion counts as he designs each subsystem. In fact the only
subsystem we have full construction schematic for (as opposed to drawings) is for the
orrery as this was provided from an existing movement.
Nonetheless, there are enough renderings to give the reader a good idea of the clock.
Please be aware that what you see is only about 1/3 of the full complexity that will be
the final product. Since the clock is created 'as we go along' there will be variations,
from these initial drawings. While it might have been possible to put to paper the very
last detail, it was agreed that for a 'one off' design of this complexity it would be too
time consuming and probably futile. Besides there are too many unknowns in such a novel
and complex project to attempt this.
