J.F. WEULE, BOCKENEM (HARZ), GERMANY c. 1900

Two train with hour and half hour count wheel strike. Cast iron plate and spacer 'chair-frame' style.  Graham deadbeat escapement with adjustable pallets. One second wooden rod pendulum with odd-shaped lenticular bob and decorative company logo.  Harrison type type maintaining power. Eight day duration. 16"w x 17.5"h x 8"d.

This is a nice example of a chair frame design where the winding barrels extend beyond the length of the movement plates. The design allows for a greater running time since more cable can be wound up on the barrel without making the entire clock frame wider. It also allows for shorter movement arbors increasing strength and stability of the movement. This is a rare frame design for Weule and is one of only a few of this style I have seen from the company.
