Project to date photos and videos - August 2011

Back Up Next

Buchanan has prepared a set of good photos and video clips of the project to date. This month will mark a hiatus in the project. I have asked Buchanan to stop work on the project so he can shift his attention to the restoration of another astronomical clock from my collection. This should take about six months. I estimate that we have anywhere from a year and a half to two years until we finish this current skeleton clock project and so I did not want that clock to sit around for such a lengthy period of time. You can follow the progress of that restoration just as was the case with this project beginning in October 2011. This project should recommence in March of 2012. For all of you that have followed this project for the past five years I hope you will enjoy Buchanan's skills at the restoration of a significant and complex timepiece as much as his skills at creating this amazingly intricate horological fantasy machine.

Below are seven YouTube videos of the project to date. Three concentrate on the strike train linkages and their epicyclical fly fans. Depending on your security settings you, may need to allow your browser to run active-x controls to see these videos. Otherwise you can visit my YouTube channel at: http://www.youtube.com/user/fgtyc
